Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician Level 1 is responsible for supporting the maintenance of apartment properties in a safe, clean, and functional condition. This entry-level role is designed for individuals beginning their career in maintenance work. Responsibilities include performing basic maintenance tasks, learning proper repair techniques, and assisting more experienced technicians. The position focuses on building foundational skills and growing technical competency through hands-on experience, supervised tasks, and professional development.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation is $22.00 - $25.00. The Maintenance Technician is eligible for the following benefits:

Essential Position Responsibilities
- Tracks assigned work order tasks daily using Yardi and follows supervisor instructions
- Schedules work appointments with residents when necessary, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy
- Prepares basic tools and materials prior to executing assigned tasks
- Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general property upkeep
- Assists senior technicians with more complex repairs and learns correct procedures through observation and participation
- Documents work completed with brief and accurate notes in Yardi
- Returns tools and unused materials to designated storage areas
- Proactively observes the condition of buildings and reports issues to the supervisor
- Ensures that incomplete work is clearly documented and followed up by the appropriate team member
- Participates in inspections, installations, and light repair projects under direct supervision

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma required
- Less than 2 year of full-time experience in one or more of the following: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, drywall, general repairs, or masonry for multifamily apartments or similar facility
- Certifications in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC are a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not supervise others but assists more experienced technicians as directed.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds to shoulder height, and up to 50 pounds to waist height
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms
- Good vision and general physical conditioning required
Work Environment
This position performs work in occupied apartments and buildings the majority of the time, with occasional office or administrative tasks.
Travel Requirements
- Must have use of a vehicle to regularly travel to Community Corp. properties, hardware stores, and supply stores within the service area
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and legally required insurance
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and agree to DMV pull report
