JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Program Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of all policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality human services. This position provides supervision, direction and support to the case management and staff including monitoring of case track files and the preparation of weekly, quarterly and annual reports. In the absence of the Program Manager the Program Supervisor supervises all program staff and participates in direct service interventions on both an individual and group basis and interacts with participants as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct supervision to all Staff.
  • Assist with the hiring process if needed.
  • Assist program manager with the preparation of program performance reports.
  • Assist program manager with program budget. Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
  • In the absence of the program manager, provide overall supervision of the program.
  • Assist with refining of the program design and maintaining procedures and systems necessary to maintain high quality human services.
  • Ensure that program services are delivered in accordance with program design and Weingart Center policies.
  • Assist with the coordination of services with outside agencies.
  • Issuance of work orders for needed repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain a Caseload of 5-10.
  • Establish, revise and implement new policies and procedures, in collaboration with the program manager.
  • Performs administrative duties with little supervision exercising independent discretion and judgment.
  • Requisitions orders for office and client supplies and requests for purchase maintaining appropriate records and correspondences.
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves problems arising out of daily operations, in coordination with the program manager.
  • Maintain and develop community resources, coordinate interactions with other WCA programs and develop and supervise participant Alumni program.
  • Reports for work as scheduled. Works effectively with management, co-workers, participants and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering the ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions; addressing others by name, title or other respectful identifier, and respecting the diversity of our work force in actions, words and deeds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of social services and its ethics.
  • Knowledge of recovery models. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
  • Communication and good listening skills with ability and willingness to interact and communicate with participants as necessary.
  • Ability to type, write and edit office memos, reports and letters. Casework/advocacy experience preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of the network of social services agencies, public and private resources and public benefits available to assist homeless men and women dealing with drug addiction.
  • Sensitive to the needs of low income and homeless individuals.
  • Computer proficiency (proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel).

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MSW preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing supervision to case management staff.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience providing administrative assistance.
  • Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish a plus.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Sitting and standing for long periods of time, walking, stooping, and bending. Ability to move to various physical locations in the complex. Ability to see, hear and talk clearly to receive instructions and to give instructions. Complex reading skills, complex writing skills, judgment, and decision-making capability. Ability to be self-directed in work and work well with others as part of a case-work team. Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Ability to work well under highly stressful conditions, to interact with needy participants, to set realistic goals, to establish healthy boundaries. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. High level concentration and attention to detail for extended periods of time required. Ability to quickly organize and communicate thoughts and to understand communications from others. Ability to work independently, with others and around others, to have verbal contact with others, face-to-face contact with others, and to prioritize work and make decisions. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by CDC.
